Our History and Mission

Saint Xavier University was founded in 1846 by the Sisters of Mercy, a Catholic religious order devoted to serving the poor and uneducated. Our scholarly community continues to be inspired by their heritage of service and commitment, promoting education as a means to reach professional goals, personal growth, and civic awareness.
