Admissions Requirements and Checklist

MA in Curriculum and Instruction

This program requires a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, although exceptions may be made after consultation with Admissions.

Please supply the following:

  • A completed application form.
  • Official transcripts of your undergraduate coursework sent directly from the registrar of your accredited baccalaureate degree-granting institution, plus transcripts of any graduate coursework.
  • Two recommendations from work supervisors, professors, coworkers, or other similar individuals who can attest to your character, academic competence, and professional experience.
  • If applicable, copies of any teaching certificates (both front and back to show current certification).

If you are not a citizen of the United States, please submit:

  • A completed application form.
  • Official transcripts from colleges or universities you attended in the U.S.
  • Official transcript of undergraduate and graduate coursework undertaken at colleges and universities outside the U.S. Students should also request a course-by-course evaluation from either WES (World Education Services) or ECE (Educational Credential Evaluators).

Official results of the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). Applicants must score a minimum of 80 on the web-based exam, 550 on the paper exam, or 213 on the computer-based exam to be considered for admission.

MS in Nursing

This program requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, although exceptions may be made after consultation with Admissions. Other requirements include a current registered nursing license with at least one year of full-time work experience and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an NLNAC or CCNE-accredited program. The Nurse Educator Certificate program requires an MSN to apply as the program is a Post Master's Certificate.

Please submit:

  • A completed application.
  • An official transcript(s) sent directly from the Registrar of all colleges, universities and professional schools attended including accredited baccalaureate degree-granting college/university and all graduate level coursework.
  • A copy of your current registered nursing license and current work status. Applicants are required to be working full-time in order to apply.
  • Three (3) written recommendations from nursing professionals, such as recent employers, professors, etc. At least one (1) recommendation must be from a Master’s level or above professional Nurse who has observed and is able to speak to the applicant’s clinical performance.
  • Current Résumé.

If you are not a citizen of the United States, you must also submit the following:

Note: All Nursing Students are required to do practicum work towards the end of their program. The practicum work and preceptor site need to be completed within the United States.
