On Campus Experience
NURSG 502 - Clinical Decision-Making and Advanced Health Assessment with Adults (3)
This course assists students to develop effective diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills, clinical interviewing, focused history-taking and advanced physical assessment skills. Course content builds upon the student's foundational knowledge of pathophysiology, microbiology and anatomy that is relevant to understanding diagnostic and treatment decision-making in advanced practice nursing. The underlying approach to assessment stresses a holistic view of clients as complex beings possessing physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs and resources.
This course includes a three-day residency at Saint Xavier University's Chicago Campus. The residency will be held on a Friday evening through Sunday morning during the second half of the course. During this residency, you will engage in several activities, including:
- Opportunity to practice physical assessment skills
- Competency testing in physical assessment skills
- Discussion of Clinical Nurse Leader role and expectations for practicum
- Initial planning for Clinical Nurse Leader project
