The coursework in Saint Xavier’s master degree program in Curriculum and Instruction is designed to give you an overview of theories about teaching and the most effective means of implementing them into a learning environment. The MA in Curriculum and Instruction does not require a teaching certificate to enroll in the program.  You will study basic tenets of instruction and major educational movements, as well as the diverse ways that people learn and how to monitor and measure their progress. You’ll learn how to apply instructional strategies into a variety of settings and how to modify them according to the needs of your organization as well as those of individual learners.

The online curriculum is made up of ten courses of three credit hours each plus a three credit hour comprehensive residency weekend of applied campus experience for a total of 33 credit hours. The residency is a component that brings together program faculty and students and includes a unique mentorship opportunity keyed to the initial planning for the capstone seminar in the Curriculum and Instruction program.  The program may be completed a little less than two years, depending on your schedule.
